Managing Director, Strategy Consulting and Research Leader
Bryan Armstrong is a managing director in the FTI Strategic Communications practice and is based in Chicago. For the past 13 years, Mr. Armstrong has provided strategic, communications and research-driven counsel on business transformations, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and other complex issues facing clients.
As a member of the strategy consulting team in the FTI Strategic Communications practice, Mr. Armstrong has extensive experience in the design, execution and application of primary and secondary research to diagnosis critical client matters and inform strategic decision-making. This includes working with clients to assess new market opportunities, shape strategic planning, develop corporate positioning and brand strategies, define resource allocation priorities and execute highly effective and targeted communications.
Mr. Armstrong joined the FTI Strategic Communications practice as part of the acquisition of Ashton Partners in October 2007. While at Ashton Partners, he served as one of three partners advising clients primarily in the industrial, technology and healthcare sectors on financial communications. His experience includes: issues management, transaction communications and investor relations. In addition, he was the firm's key strategist in counseling clients through shareholder activism, contested proxies and other dissident shareholder relations issues.
Prior to joining Ashton Partners, Mr. Armstrong was an investment analyst at Merrill Lynch conducting security analysis and research. He received his B.B.A. in finance at the University of Wisconsin Madison, with a concentration in international business. In addition, Mr. Armstrong holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a member of CFA Chicago and the CFA Institute.
Mr. Armstrong regularly provides commentary on the capital markets and emerging issues to respected national financial media outlets including Fox Business News, Bloomberg News, and Chicago Tribune, among others. He has published several articles in national publications including: $Investors' Ultimatum$, Pharmaceutical Executive, 2002 and $The New Crisis: Shareholder Activism$, Strategic Investor Relations, 2004. He has also presented at numerous conferences including: $Boards Role in M&A$, National Directors Institute (NDI) and $ABC of Hedge Funds$, NIRI National conference.
